THE METHOD BOOKS
Colours today, notes tomorrow
The RainbowkeysTM Method starts littles with a specific colour of the rainbow for each note of the C Major scale. Book by book, students advance from colours to letters to notes until they’re reading music and playing piano like you or me—and each book includes a set of vinyl stickers for your piano keys!
Level One
Level One introduces littles to key patterns, so they can orient themselves at the piano, know where to place their RainbowkeysTM colours, and always be able to find middle C!
Level Two
Level Two teaches students their left from their right, introduces them to reading basics (like moving from the left to the right of the page), and invites them to play with any finger of each hand!
Level Three
Level Three introduces students to hand placement, which hands are responsible for which notes, and the concept of rhythm—short sounds, long sounds, and everything in between!

MEET THE AUTHOR
The joyful heart behind Rainbowkeys
We all know learning something new isn’t easy, and piano is no exception. As a piano teacher and mom of two, I know first-hand how frustrating learning the piano can be for littles. The problem isn’t our littles, or even the piano—it’s the methodology (or lack thereof) for our littlest students.
In my studio, I couldn’t help but notice how method books would jump into playing notes with both hands before my students even knew their left from their right. My heart broke every time a student sat at the piano in tears. So, I decided to make learning piano easier for littles—and their teachers.
Enter, Rainbowkeys: An original method for teaching piano to ages 3+.
Using a specific colour of the rainbow for each note of the C Major scale, littles learn piano age appropriately—without reading or tears! As they progress, so too do the method books, until littles are reading music themselves.
My Rainbowkeys methodology includes six books—three of which are published. Each book character is inspired by a love of my life and illustrated by my 13-year-old daughter. The fourth book on pitch will be released March 2026, exploring high and low sounds with a llama named Ashley!
